Hacking the Firehouse

Your firehouse should promote health, not compromise it.

How to biohack the firehouse in 5 easy steps:

  1. Ban vegetable/seed oils (rapeseed (canola oil), soybean, corn, sunflower, safflower..) and all grains in the kitchen. To ban seems extreme, but it’s that important for your health. It’s number 1 for a reason. These oils cause inflammation and oxidation throughout the body. See ya.

  2. Install blue-light blocking software on computers and MDCs such as IrisTech - or F.lux - for better sleep. Use red light on phones in the evening using this hack - Another option is bluelight blocking glasses like Swannies.

  3. Keep your firehouse mold-free - Obviously.

  4. Invest in a belt squat and reverse hyper for strength and injury/workers comp prevention. Lower back injuries are still the most common injury related to early retirement from the fire service

  5. Invest in low-impact cardio equipment such as a versaclimber, assault bike, or row machine..
